Our Story

Our family started in 2009. My husband brought home my very first 8 week old female doberman and it was love at first sight. Fully grown and reaching 80lbs we had no issue fitting her in any apparel, harnesses, collars or booties. 2 years later my baby girl had her first litter of 12! We fell in love with all the pups but knew we couldn't keep them all. My husband always wanted a doberman so he picked a handsome male from our litter to complete our family of 4. When our male was fully grown he came in at 120lbs and that's when we relized we couldn't fit him into any apparel but we had adjusted without it living in the city.

In 2013 I found out that I wasn't able to have children, it was tough to hear but I was more than happy to live my life as a mom to my fur babies. A few years later we choose to move out of the city and up to the North in Almaguin Highlands to fullfill our life to do the things we love the most. We created a business from scratch, have acres for the dogs to run and nature at our doorstep.

2021 was the hardest year. Our boy was diagnosed with bone cancer and passed away in April that year, A short 6 months later our girl passed away from kidney failure. It was the hardest thing we had to go through. For 2 years after our home just didn't feel like a home. It was quiet, No fur or slobber on the glass to clean, No dogs waking us up in the morning to get there food and water, or walking in from work with no tails wagging at the front door when there so happy to see us, it got very lonely. From the pain that I felt I thought I never want to ever feel that agian.

My husband one morning told me that we have SO much love to give that if we didn't love there would be no pain. Dogs unfortunately don't live as long as us but if we can give another dog an amazing loving life for all it's life that's all we can ask for.I was open to it and he was ready. That's when we went to pick up our 10 week old male Presa Canario, we instantly felt whole agian and in just 5 short months we picked up our 9 week old female Presa and we we're complete agian. As of today our girl weighs 100lbs and only 1yr and 3 months and our big boy is at 135lbs at 1yr 6 months. This is where Hands and Paws was Created.
